Caleb’s journey into the world of Chinese calligraphy and traditional painting began at an early age, deeply influenced by his father, a senior national-level Chinese painter. This rich artistic heritage shaped Caleb’s passion and dedication to mastering these timeless art forms.
Starting formal training in calligraphy at the age of six, Caleb immersed himself in various styles, including Regular Script (Kaishu), Seal Script (Zhuanshu), Clerical Script (Lishu), Running Script (Xingshu), Cursive Script (Caoshu), and Small Regular Script (Xiaokai).
Through years of rigorous practice, he has mastered Kaishu, Zhuanshu, and Xingshu, drawing inspiration from the works of legendary calligraphers such as Yan Zhenqing, Mi Fu, Wang Xizhi, Zhao Mengfu, and Wu Rangzhi.
Caleb’s talents have been widely recognized. He has competed in numerous national calligraphy competitions, earning accolades such as the Gold Award in the prestigious “Mocai Cup” for his renditions of Lanting Xu (Preface to the Orchid Pavilion), Meihua Fu (Ode to the Plum Blossom), and Shigu Wen (Stone Drum Inscriptions). His skill and dedication also earned him a place in the China-Japan Calligraphy Exchange Program, highlighting his international influence.
Beyond competitions, Caleb is a passionate advocate for sharing Chinese culture. During his undergraduate and graduate studies, he organized and led calligraphy events, serving as an instructor to students from diverse cultural backgrounds. His teaching has introduced many to the beauty and discipline of Chinese calligraphy, fostering cross-cultural appreciation and understanding.
Caleb’s artistry and experience make him a sought-after expert in Chinese calligraphy, bringing both technical mastery and a deep love for tradition to every project and event he undertakes.
